In April of 2015, I embarked on my second thru hike along the Pacific Crest Trail. This was my first visit to the West coast and I was suddenly in love. I understood the challenges of a thru hike, but had yet to experience West coast hiking. The Pacific Crest Trail is so diverse from the hot desert terrain, to the high sierra, crossing lava rock fields, snow covered peaks, and epic views for miles. On the AT, you spend most of your day in the trees hence the name “green tunnel.” I loved every moment of this thru hike and met so many people from across the globe. I continued to be amazed by the kindness of strangers and the beautiful county we live in. The trail was designed for horses so it is nicely graded and did not leave my knees aching at the end of the day or for months after my thru hike. I finished on October 2nd and had even more of a desire to continue hiking. After completing the AT and PCT, I knew what trail would be next.
